What are we learning about this week? We are continuing to learn about force and motion. We worked on a packet and practiced more with calculating acceleration, mass, force, velocity. We learned how to calculate the distance fallen during “this second” from what we got after we calculated the velocity. Also we were predicting consequences based on what they were doing. Also we learned how to calculate momentum (momentum = mass x velocity). We also did a mini lab where we jumped 5 different times and measured using a meter stick. We calculated how far we are jumping on each planet. We had to divide our average from all 5 jumps with the amount of gravity for each planet. Lastly, we played diffferent games and reviewed force, mass, and gravity. Why are we learning this? We are learning this because we need to know how things happen. How do we stand? How does something just fall? What would happen if we did this? How? All the things that we learned this week could answer these questions. It is important to know what’s really going on and knowing this would be a huge help. What was the most interesting thing you learned or did in class this week? Why? The most important thing I learned this week is that the speed of something falling is not based on its weight. It is based on its shape. I think this is interesting because I thought that the more an object weighs, the faster it will fall, but it is based on its shape. What was the hardest/trickiest thing we learned about or did this week? I don’t really think there was a hardest. I feel like everything we did, in the packet at least, was pretty difficult, but at the same time not because we were able to look back in our packet for the euqations, for example. Did we have any quizzes or tests this week? If we did, which was it, and what was it on? How was it? We did not have any quizzes or tests this week. If you could pick anything in science to learn more about, what would it be and why? I would like to learn more about how gravity works, for example how it depends on an object’s shape, not weight. Things like that are interesting. Is there anything else you want to add? Now knowing all these different things are just so cool because it feels like I now know how everything happens all because of these past weeks.

What are we learning about this week? This week we’re learning about Newton’s Law. We are focusing on a lot with different types of forces and how the force and acceleration effects different objects to move. Why are we learning this? We are learning this to know what we are living in. So that we know why things are happening in a certain matter and what it’s causing it. To better understand Newton’s law because of how important it is in our lives. What was the most interesting thing you learned or did in class this week? Why? The most interesting thing I did in class was a balloon lab. What I like about it was that it included force which was what we were talking about. It was a creative way to learn visually and verbally to understand our unit. What was the hardest/trickiest thing we learned about or did this week? The hardest thing we learned this week was Newton’s third law. It was a little confusing where every action has an equal and opposite reaction. I didn’t understand the equal reaction and that was the hardest part to learn. Did we have any quizzes or tests this week? If we did, which was it, and what was it on? How was it? There weren’t any quizzes or tests this week. If you could pick anything in science to learn more about, what would it be and why? I would love to learn about gravity and black holes. I find many interests in black holes a lot because if all of the mysterious science behind it. I want to learn about the cause of gravity and how it is made. Our unit we’re learning can go into another unit Newton Law of Universal Gravitation. I will really enjoy the unit and be so interested about everything of it. Is there anything else you want to add? I really enjoy learning about force. Whenever I heard about the story where Newton figured out force from a falling apple I always wanted to learn about all of his laws and the science behind it. I now know a nice chunk of his knowledge and work. This week's blogger: H.V.
What are we learning about this week? We are learning about friction, acceleration, and velocity. We watched a brainpop and had a worksheet based on acceleration and velocity. We have taken a mini quiz on friction. We have also taken notes and did a INB on friction. Why are we learning this? We are learning this to understand the importance of friction without friction we wouldn’t be able to walk or do anything. We also learned about acceleration, and velocity. We learned this because we can and will need this in our daily life when we can drive. What was the most interesting thing you learned or did in class this week? Why? The most interesting thing had to be the whole idea of friction or the article you gave us on friction. This was the most interesting for me because i never quite new what friction was and i never knew how important it was to us. What was the hardest/trickiest thing we learned about or did this week? For me personally had to be the acceleration and velocity. Like when we had to find the acceleration of a problem. Also the whole idea of sliding, fluid, static, and rolling friction. Before I did the INB i didn't really understand the whole idea. Did we have any quizzes or tests this week? If we did, which was it, and what was it on? How was it? Yes we had a mini quiz based on friction, the different kinds and some other questions. It was hard for me not really knowing or understanding the concept. If you could pick anything in science to learn more about, what would it be and why? If I could learn anything in science it would have to be the animal's anatomy and showing the difference between ares as humans and theirs as animal. I show interest in this since my mom is a veterinarian and deals with animals so I would like to know more about them. Is there anything else you want to add? No there isn't anything i would like to add. What are we learning about this week?
This week we are learning about acceleration. Why are we learning this? We are learning about acceleration because we can learn how to calculate it using the different skills we learned when we learned about time, distance, and speed. What was the most interesting thing you learned or did in class this week? Why? The most important thing we learned this week was how to properly calculate acceleration because without knowing how to calculate it, we would not be able to continue our lesson on this topic. What was the hardest/trickiest thing we learned about or did this week? The hardest thing we learned to do this week to me was calculating acceleration because there were so many different steps and variables. Did we have any quizzes or tests this week? If we did, which was it, and what was it on? How was it? We have a test on Friday (or Monday) about what we learned on acceleration. If you could pick anything in science to learn more about, what would it be and why? If I could learn more about anything in science, I would want to learn more about genetics and how heterochromia happens. Is there anything else you want to add? There is nothing else I can think of to add to this blog post. This week's blogger: O.W.
What are we learning about this week? We just finished the first unit about graphing, the scientific method, and conversions. Why are we learning this? To know how to compare certain things to one another, to solve our questions, to help us measure things. What was the most interesting thing you learned or did in class this week? Why? The lab that we did that made the liquids change color. I thought it was really interesting how they changed different colors from one another even though they started off all looking relatively the same. What was the hardest/trickiest thing we learned about or did this week? I think it was the control and constant of labs. I can never quite understand that. Did we have any quizzes or tests this week? If we did, which was it, and what was it on? How was it? We had a test today on the entire unit and everything we've been learning(graphing, scientific method, conversions). I think I did pretty decent on it and it really wasn't that hard, especially if you studied even for a little bit. If you could pick anything in science to learn more about, what would it be and why? Mental problems and issues (depression, eating disorders, anxiety, etc) I think it's really interesting although we've had assemblies on it I just think that people could be a lot more educated, including myself. Is there anything else you want to add? I really don't want this to come off rude or anything but I just want to say that if something asks a “dumb” question or something like that it's not always because they aren't paying attention, but because they genuinely don't understand it. I completely get that some of the time it is just people not paying attention. But somethings just don't click with people and they need a little more explanation. Also for people not paying attention. I honestly believe that's it bound to happen sometimes, you're the last class of the day so it's not always the easiest to be at full attention. We’re all human beings and it's just a little difficult to always be at 110% Thank you very much and have a good day/afternoon. This week's blogger: I.A.
What are we learning about this week? This week we were learning about different types of graphs, independent and dependant variables, and conversions in measurement. Why are we learning this? We are learning this to help us in the future with projects, whether it be for school, work, or homes. Also conversions of measurements will help with the same, for the future. What was the most interesting thing you learned or did in class this week? Why? One of the most interesting things we did in class this week was a packet with stations. Some of the stations were creation, observation, and investigations, and they all are with different experiments and such which I find super fun. What was the hardest/trickiest thing we learned about or did this week? The hardest thing was in the interactive notebook, we got a lot of tables and we had to do graphs based on them. It wasn’t hard, but it just had to be accurate which was a little tricky. Did we have any quizzes or tests this week? If we did, which was it, and what was it on? How was it? Yes, we had two mini quizzes One was on density and measurement and the other was on graphs and differentiating the different types. They both were really easy and not difficult at all, as long as you study. If you could pick anything in science to learn more about, what would it be and why? I would want to learn more about the anatomy of the body and the different organs throughout your body. I find that topic something really interesting to learn about. Is there anything else you want to add? No, there is nothing else I would like to add. This week's blogger: T.Z.
What are we learning about this week? Currently, we are learning about many basics for taking science this year and the many years ahead of us. We learned about the scientific method to help us gather evidence and make conclusive experiments. We are also learning about the metric system and other units of measurement, which is more of a recap, because they are typically used in science classes. Why are we learning this? It refreshes our minds and sets us up better to do these things in high school. What was the most interesting thing you learned or did in class this week? Why? I thought making the rainbow flip book was interesting. It’s like making a bunch of colorful flashcards. What was the hardest/trickiest thing we learned about or did this week? I think memorizing the steps in order for the scientific method was pretty tough, maybe that’s just a personal thing(I have a horrible memory). Did we have any quizzes or tests this week? If we did, which was it, and what was it on? How was it? We had a quiz on the scientific method and we are having a test on units of measurement and finding the volume, mass, and density of things. If you could pick anything in science to learn more about, what would it be and why? I think biology would be something interesting to learn about, the human body is fascinating. Is there anything else you want to add? Nope. This week's blogger: J.A.
What are we learning about this week? We are learning about Solar Eclipses Why are we learning this? We are learning this, so we can understand how they work, how they can affect us, and how they occur. What was the most interesting thing you learned or did in class this week? Why? The most interesting thing that I have learned, is how it can affect your eyes. I think that this is the most interesting because before I learned this, I didn’t know why you couldn’t look at the solar eclipse. What was the hardest/trickiest thing we learned about or did this week? I think that the trickiest thing was understanding the different between a partial and total solar eclipse. Did we have any quizzes or tests this week? If we did, which was it, and what was it on? How was it? We did not have any tests/quizzes this week. If you could pick anything in science to learn more about, what would it be and why? I would pick to learn more about total solar eclipses because I find it interesting. Is there anything else you want to add? No thank you.. This Week's Blogger: J.H.
What are we learning about this week? In science class this week, we learned about all of the class rules and where everything goes. On the first day of school, we learned about the science of solar eclipse and how it affects your eyes if you don’t have the right glasses on. We organized our binders for the year and completed the first page and format for the Table of Contents. Why are we learning this? The reason why we are learning this is so that we are organized, prepared, and safe in the upcoming year. This way we know everything about the class in the first week. What was the most interesting thing you learned or did in class this week? Why? The most interesting thing I learned in class this week was how the eclipse reacts to your eyes if you don’t have on the special glasses. This was the most interesting thing I learned because I found out about the things inside my eye like the retina and that the pupil is actually a hole. What was the hardest/trickiest thing we learned about or did this week? The hardest/trickiest thing we learned this week is the new things Mrs. Boguslaw was adding or changing this school year. Did we have any quizzes or tests this week? If we did, which was it, and what was it on? How was it? No, we did not have any tests or quizzes this week. If you could pick anything in science to learn more about, what would it be and why? If I could pick anything in science to learn more about, it would be chemistry because I think it is cool and fascinating that mix 2 substances together can make a totally different product. Is there anything else you want to add? No, there is nothing else I would like to add. |
